The SVP in West Yorkshire are inviting you to join them for a sponsored “Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge” on 16th June 2012 to raise funds to The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge takes in the three highest peaks in Yorkshire – Pen-y-ghent (694m), Whernside (736m) and Ingleborough (723m) – covering a total distance of around 25 miles on a circular route, and climbing 1672m (and descending), before arriving back in Ribblesdale - all completed in one day! St Vincent de Paul Society, is making it possible to give a practical help pack to homeless street people. The packs, called ‘Vinnie Packs’ include a hat, gloves, socks, toiletries and a thermal blanket. The packs costs £3.00 to produce. Anyone wanting to help street homeless in this way can either buy a ‘Vinnie Pack’ or sponsor the purchase of a pack which will then be distributed to street homeless by the St Vincent de Paul Society volunteers. Friends has been re-launched with a new and more up to date look for the Society. The Friends of the SVP scheme is an ideal way for people who would like to support the work of the Society but cannot spare the time to become a member, or for members who would like to make a regular contribution to support the SVP. By becoming a Friend of the St Vincent de Paul Society, you can ensure that some of the most excluded people are given a chance to have a better life, whilst contributing positively to the future of this work. |
