Tragedy struck in October when a family of six from Llandudno, David and Michelle Statham and their four children, died on Monday evening 20th October when their family car was destroyed during a five-vehicle collision on the M6 Motorway.
David Statham, aged 38, and his wife Michelle, aged 33 died with their son Reece, aged 13 Jay aged 9, 20-month-old son Mason and10-week-old girl Elouise. Hundreds of mourners lined the streets in Llandudno in remembrance of the family who were described as "a model family".
The family who were parishioners of Our Lady Star of the Sea, Llandudno had chosen “Feed my Lambs” as their favorite charity.
“Feed my Lambs” provides food for starving babies in Sudan and their family and friends have requested that donations be made to the charity in their memory.
What is “Feed my Lambs”?
“Feed my Lambs” enables parishioners of Our Lady Star of the Sea in Llandudno and their friends to provide practical help in feeding substantial numbers of starving babies in Sudan.
How did it start?
One of the Parishioners, Ian Mawdsley, is a member of the International Relations Committee of the St Vincent de Paul Society (England & Wales) and involved with the Twinnage scheme. Ian visits Sudan regularly and informed the parish priest at Our Lady Star of the Sea, Father Antony Jones, about the feeding centres run by the SVP in the area near Khartoum. Father Jones realised the seriousness of the situation and that the centres are saving many lives; he set up “Feed my Lambs” to provide the money to feed the babies. In the last 2 years the parishioners have given an astounding £28,487.
